Liverpool is bracing for interest from Saudi Arabia in goalkeeper Alisson Becker. He will be to the Copa America this summer with a reputed Reds objective.
Despite doubts about his Liverpool future, Alisson Becker is loving the contest for Brazil’s No.1 shirt. The 31-year-old is coming off another solid season at club level and will compete in the Copa America this summer.
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has been ruled out of the tournament after suffering a fractured eye socket in the vital win over Tottenham, therefore Alisson will start against Costa Rica later this month.
He is joined in the team by Athletico Paranaense’s Bento and Sao Paulo’s Rafael, with the former allegedly surfacing as a potential Liverpool target.
According to SportsZone, Liverpool is’monitoring’ the 24-year-old, while Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and AC Milan are also interested in signing him to Europe. Any agreement to bring Bento to Anfield will most likely be to replace Caoimhin Kelleher, who is looking to become a No.1 somewhere this summer.
“I’m at my top. Brazil has numerous talented goalkeepers, both domestically and internationally. It keeps us alert and prevents complacency.”
Alisson’s admission comes amid uncertainty about his own future. The Guardian revealed last month that the Liverpool goalkeeper is a major target for Saudi Pro League clubs this summer.
While he has stated that he will remain at Anfield and be a member of Arne Slot’s squad, TeamTalk says the Liverpool goalkeeper will receive a’monster’ offer to entice him to the Middle East.
Liverpool.com says: Alisson is correct; 31 is still a youthful age for a goalkeeper, and there is no reason why he cannot play for another seven or eight years. There appears to be interest from Saudi Arabia this summer, but Liverpool will undoubtedly reject any attempts to sign its No. 1. Bento, his international teammate, appears to be a prospect, but if he does arrive, he will most likely join Alisson rather than replacing him.
