Sky Sports commentator Daniel Mann called Sheffield Wednesday’s defending as “pretty alarming” following a mazy run by Leeds United ace Dan James at Elland Road.
The Whites triumphed 3-0 as Manor Solomon scored in the third minute, followed by Largie Ramazani in the 88th minute and Ao Tanaka right before full time.
Daniel Farke definitely would have like his side to be more dominant throughout, but three points keeps them at the top of the Championship table.
During the second half, James was able to slide past a number of Wednesday players, prompting Mann on Sky Sports commentary to say: “From a Wednesday point of view, it was pretty alarming, Dan James was delighted with the ease he was able to waltz through.”
“It wasn’t far from rolling out the red carpet for him”
Leeds United win versus Sheffield Wednesday.
Although it wasn’t their most dominant performance, Leeds deserved to win and took three points.
The Owls put up a decent effort throughout the 90 minutes, but the mistake for the goal, as well as occasions like this one, demonstrated that Leeds have the advantage in terms of physicality.
Farke will be pleased that his team won all three points and retained their lead in the league, but it is now critical that they build on this and maintain their good form in the second half of the season.
However, beating Yorkshire rivals Wednesday at Elland Road is always good for morale in the camp and will undoubtedly help boost the squad’s momentum as they prepare to travel to Norwich City on Wednesday (22 January).
