Latest Nottingham Forest news: agent of one of Reds’ summer targets talks the transfer window.
Edoardo Bove’s agent has disclosed that Nottingham Forest were one of the midfielder’s “hottest” suitors as the transfer window deadline approached.
The Reds were connected with the 22-year-old as they sought to improve their midfield before the August 30 deadline. However, despite indications that negotiations had taken place with Roma, Bove’s relocation to the City Ground did not occur.
On August 30, the Italian joined Fiorentina on a season-long loan, with the option to buy. Meanwhile, Forest strengthened their midfield options with the loan acquisition of James Ward-Prowse on the same day.
According to Bove’s representative, the Reds were once quite interested in the youngster. However, he is certain that his client made the correct decision.
In a translated interview, Agent Diego Tavano told Radio FirenzeViola: “It was an unusual summer for Bove. We can’t understand why, but there wasn’t room for him at Roma, so we started exploring elsewhere.
“There were multiple solutions. The warmest was Nottingham, but also Ligue 1.
He added: “It is apparent that you are all aware of Bove’s bond with Roma; he grew up there, and leaving your favourite team unavoidably causes you great pain. But then you enter an important situation, such as Florence, where you know you can grow, and he becomes really pleased.
“He knows he made the correct decision. We’re talking about an intellectual boy who has his head on his shoulders and understands exactly what he wants. He’s already metabolized this estrangement.”
Forest were connected with a number of midfielders before signing Ward-Prowse. He signed a season-long loan from West Ham United before the August 30 deadline.
Ward-Prowse’s arrival came after Reds head coach Nuno Espirito Santo lost Brazilian midfielder Danilo to injury. The 23-year-old injured his ankle in the season’s first game and is unlikely to return to action before the turn of the year.
