Leeds United want to return to Championship action this weekend.
There is only one more day of internationals until all players return to Thorp Arch to report for club duties, following a break that came at the worst possible time for Leeds.
Leeds signed four new players in the final eight days of the transfer window, but the international break arrived before they could settle in.
Daniel Farke’s team has also recently gained momentum with back-to-back 2-0 victories over Hull City and Sheffield Wednesday.
Leeds couldn’t have asked for a more challenging match to celebrate their homecoming, as they face fellow promotion favorites Burnley at Elland Road.
Connor Roberts struggles to make the Leeds reunion.
Connor Roberts and Jaidon Anthony, two Leeds loanees from the 2023/24 season, will be aiming to face off against their former club on Saturday.
Anthony arrived at Turf Moor late in the transfer window and made an immediate impression with a stunning assist on his debut in Burnley’s 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
Roberts, meanwhile, returned to parent club Burnley in the summer when Leeds declined to sign him on a permanent basis, and he has started all four of his team’s opening league games.
However, the £2.5 million man’s availability for his maiden return to Elland Road is in doubt after being injured in Wales’ 2-1 victory over Montenegro last night.
Roberts was replaced by Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson just before halftime, and with only a few days to recover, he is unlikely to play.
After releasing Vitinho and declining to register summer recruit Shurandy Sambo, it will be intriguing to see who Burnley chooses to replace him with.
What is the early Leeds team news ahead of Burnley?
Leeds were missing a few first-team players in their recent triumph against Hull City, but one of them, new acquisition Isaac Schmidt, might make his debut.
Schmidt was recruited too late to be registered in time for the match against the Tigers, unlike Leeds’ other three acquisitions, Ao Tanaka, Largie Ramazani, and Manor Solomon, all of whom played.
Farke will also want to welcome back Dan James and Patrick Bamford after their recent hamstring injuries.
If those two return, Leeds will have a fully healthy squad, and all of the internationals will be in good health, which means at least one big name will be missing.
