Leeds United supporters turned up the volume at Elland Road on Friday evening as the Whites fought back from a goal down to defeat Championship promotion rivals Leicester City.

On Friday night, Elland Road was a cacophony of noise as Leeds United blasted the Championship title race wide open by upsetting league leaders Leicester City. Thousands of fans stayed behind after the final whistle to enjoy the victory alongside Daniel Farke and his team.

Ally McCoist and Jeff Stelling spoke with talkSPORT today about the atmosphere created by the home crowd during the top-of-the-table encounter. McCoist commented: “What a comeback against Leicester on Friday night. That place was also rocking! Couldn’t you believe it? “The fans at Elland Road are absolutely on fire; it’s incredible.”

Stelling reiterated McCoist’s comments, saying: “They (Leeds) had been played off the park for the entire game, but you knew if Leeds scored, they would win.” Because the fans there are incredible. They suck the ball in, which is a classic cliche.

Georgino Rutter was a key player in United’s 3-1 victory over Leicester. The French forward won the man of the match award after playing a key role in two of the Whites’ three goals.

Rutter, a big-money transfer from Hoffenheim a year ago, has been one of the Championship’s star performers this season, with six goals and an impressive 12 assists. Stelling stated, “Everyone laughed at Georginio Rutter when he first arrived in this country, because he couldn’t strike a barn door. “But now he looks like a class act.”

The 21-year-old is expected to feature when United face Chelsea in the FA Cup fifth round on Wednesday evening.
