Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on their sixth signing of the summer transfer season.
Nuno Espirito Santo and his team have had a fantastic start to the summer on all fronts.
Forest have been proactive in the transfer window, with five new signings and a handful of players leaving for large payments.
Evangelos Marinakis must have been worried about last month’s PSR deadline, but the sales of Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate alleviated any concerns.
Forest have already bought five players, but it will not prevent them from doing more in the transfer window following a 2023/24 season that threatened relegation until the final week.
And Forest fans may not have to wait much longer to see signing number six arrive at the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest is on the verge of signing a sixth player.
They played against Sunderland in Spain on Friday night, their second match of the summer.
Forest faced stronger opponents and were forced to fight hard in the heat for their 1-1 draw against the Black Cats, following an easy victory over Chesterfield the previous Saturday.
Forest return to action early next week against Millwall, where Nikola Milenkovic, who signed this week, might make his debut.
Signing number six may not arrive in time, but Forest are thought to be close to their next arrival this summer.
According to Rudy Galetti, Forest are currently in advanced talks with Brazilian club Palmeiras about signing Riquelme Fillipi.
The Reds are now thought to be confident that a deal will be concluded soon for a fee of approximately £5 million.
At only 17 years old, the young Brazilian is unquestionably a future star, but Forest are attempting to steal a march on identifying fresh talent from Brazil following their recent success.
Who is Riquelme Fillipi?
The Reds have gained a lot of confidence from the signing of Murillo, who is now regarded as a potential £70 million player.
And Forest will search for other jewels in the Brazilian market, as they hope to do with the 17-year-old.
The forward can play on either side of the flank and played an important role in Brazil’s recent victory at the South American Under-17 Championship.
Riquelme is claimed to have modeled his playing after that of Neymar Jr, who was his role model as a boy while growing up in Brazil.
However, he has claimed that he is capable of playing as a centre forward in order to be as versatile as possible.
“I am a very fast player who likes to dribble,” Riquelme told O Globo.
“I always try to focus on my finishing, and in terms of location, I can adapt to different formations. Modern football necessitates this adaptability. So I can play both as a winger, primarily on the left side, and as a center forward.”
