Adam Pope: arrested after a Leeds fan was hurt in an incident during the match against Norwich

According to Adam Pope, a Norwich City fan has been arrested in connection with an incident outside Carrow Road that left a Leeds United supporter with a neck wound.

On May 12, after the goalless draw in the first leg of the play-off semi-final, a BBC correspondent tweeted that a Whites fan had been wounded.

Daniel Farke’s side returns to Elland Road for the Thursday return leg after keeping a clean sheet in Norfolk, but an unsettling concern has developed since the final whistle.

Pope wrote: “I understand there was an incident after the game at Carrow Road in which a Leeds United fan sustained a bleeding neck injury. It is unclear what caused the injury, however it could have been a can that was tossed or used. “One Norwich fan was arrested.”

Leeds United supporter left bleeding following play-off clash.

The play-offs obviously heighten emotions following a protracted Championship season, with Premier League promotion and the associated riches on the line.

However, it goes without saying that events between supporters resulting in physical violence cannot be tolerated in any way.

It looks that an arrest has already been made, therefore the hope is that the Leeds supporter has not been seriously injured and will recover quickly.

Farke did the double over his previous club this season, winning the second division twice as Canaries manager, but his Whites team’s form has deteriorated during the important run-in.

A clean sheet on the road is a welcome return to defensive solidity after conceding seven in the previous two away games combined, including the devastating 4-0 loss to QPR on April 26.

Despite a 2-1 defeat to Southampton on the final day, Leeds United have been great at home this season and know that a one-goal victory is all that is required to reach the Wembley final, while both clubs will hope that there are no further problems in West Yorkshire following the incident this weekend.
