According to Football Insider, Ipswich Town is nearing a deal to capture Blackburn Rovers forward Sammy Szmodics.
The clubs are in talks about signing the 28-year-old Irish attacking midfielder, who finished last season as the Championship’s top scorer with 27 goals in 44 appearances.
An agreement has not yet been reached, but Szmodics is eager to join, make the step up, and prove himself in the Premier League.
Ipswich face competition from Leeds United, who have also expressed interest in the transfer, although Szmodics is determined on joining a Premier League team.

In addition to winning the Championship’s Golden Boot, the Republic of Ireland international was nominated to the Championship Team of the Season.
His strong form earned him his first senior international appearance for the Republic of Ireland, which came in a 0-0 draw against Belgium in March.
Szmodics has less than two years left on his current Blackburn deal, which expires in the summer of 2026.
Kieran McKenna is eager to bolster his team and build on the additions of Omari Hutchinson, Jacob Greaves, and Liam Delap as they prepare for their first top-flight season in over 20 years.
