According to Richard Keys, Liverpool is keeping a secret regarding Arne Slot

Arne Slot will be patiently waiting in the wings as Liverpool prepares to introduce him as their new manager.

Getting the Liverpool job on its own is huge because of the enormous burden that comes with leading English football’s most powerful club.

However, being faced with replacing Jurgen Klopp only complicates Arne Slot’s life.

Since the turn of the century, whoever has been in charge of Liverpool has been reminded that the club has not won the Premier League title in a very long time.

That was generally the gloomy cloud over the manager’s head, and the most of them failed on the domestic front before Klopp broke the 30-year drought.

Not since the 1980s has a manager stepped into a Liverpool situation that is likely slightly different from those who came before him.

Will the Dutchman have the minerals to lead the club to victory? Is his resume good enough to get the job?

Richard Keys did not mince words and stated unequivocally in his blog that he is not convinced by this projected appointment.

Many names were mentioned as potential replacements for Klopp, including Xabi Alonso of Bayer Leverkusen and Pep Guardiola of Manchester City.

But Keys believes Liverpool, who are reportedly considering transfers with their next manager, will not reveal that Slot was not their first option.

The beIN SPORTS host also stated that Slot’s record in Holland ‘isn’t even as good as Erik ten Hag’s’.

“I believe Liverpool are about to make the same mistakes that Manchester United did,” Keys stated in a statement. “Arne Ten Slot. Really? Not for me. And I am not alone. There isn’t a Liverpool supporter I’ve spoken to who isn’t disappointed with the announcement that ten Slot will replace Klopp.

“Ok. Let’s give him a break. I accept that we don’t know. It may be an inspired appointment. But I am not convinced. Why ten Slots? (I know that is not his name, but he is a mini-me, isn’t he?). I know we’ll hear the same things they said about 10 Hag when Liverpool finally unveils their man. What you won’t hear is an acknowledgment that he wasn’t the first pick. Or that his record in Holland isn’t as good as Ten Hag’s.

“Among the things I’ve read about him so far was a surprising line: ten Slot will not be ‘manager’ at Anfield. He will be ‘head coach’. Why is this significant? Well, I feel it solidifies Michael Edwards’ position as ‘head of football’.”

Patience is required with Arne Slot.

Many will argue that Slot requires a quick start because if he suffers early on, he will simply add to the immense pressure that will be placed on him.

This is where the senior players must step up. The team’s present results, namely their inability to reach the target and defend as a unit, must be overcome by next season.
