Latest Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive, as the club issues a statement before of the Manchester United FA Cup match.

Nottingham Forest have published a statement ahead of their FA Cup match against Manchester United, admitting that “serious concerns” have been expressed about supporters’ continual standing at the City Ground, which might result in the club facing “severe sanctions”.

Forest face the Red Devils in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday night. Ahead of the match, the club has reminded fans that persistent standing is not permitted during games. The club has warned that if the situation is not addressed, the City Ground’s capacity would be lowered.

Forest’s statement read: “Nottingham Forest would like to remind all supporters that persistent standing is not permitted at The City Ground for your and others’ safety.

“The local authority’s Safety Advisory Group has expressed serious concerns about our home team’s consistent standing this season.”

“Failure to address persistent standing exposes the club to significant consequences, including an enforced reduction in stadium capacity on match days. This would have a significant detrimental impact on our famous atmosphere, reduce the availability of tickets for supporters, and affect our revenues and reputation. We cannot allow this to occur.

“It is consequently critical that we take stronger measures to ensure compliance with tight stadium requirements.

“Please be warned that if supporters do not comply with the requirements of our security and stewarding colleagues, we reserve the right to exclude individuals from the stadium and, where applicable, rescind season cards. Unfortunately, we have already had to ban a few of supporters due to their persistent standing this season.

“While we actively investigate long-term solutions to this problem (including the possible implementation of Safe Standing areas), your cooperation is critical.

“Please obey our stewards’ wishes on match days. They are here to safeguard the safety and enjoyment of all stadium patrons, as well as to enforce compliance with the terms of our safety license.

“The club is incredibly appreciative for your role in creating the City Ground atmosphere that is well-known across the Premier League and beyond. Let’s work together to keep things that way.
