Nottingham Forest ended the 2023/24 season with a 2-1 away win over Burnley on Sunday, and Steve Hodge praised one individual.
Chris Wood scored twice to lead the Reds to victory. It guaranteed he reached 15 goals for the season, cementing Forest’s Premier League position.
Forest led 1-0 after just under 80 seconds and added a second goal on 14 minutes. Josh Cullen cut the deficit in 72 minutes.
Hodge was impressed with one of the architects for the Forest goals. He gushed about him as he watched from the stands at Turf Moor.
What Steve Hodge said about Anthony Elanga:
Anthony Elanga has had a terrific season after joining Forest for £15 million from Manchester United.
He was in good form again on Sunday, recording another assist – his ninth of the season – in less than two minutes.
Hodge was impressed and spoke highly of him live on BBC Radio Nottingham.
He stated, “It’s absolutely brilliant from Elanga on the right wing, right foot, whipped cross.” Wood is at the back stick, volleying with his left foot. Brilliant.”
Elanga was substituted during the game, but he still put up a strong showing and will be pleased with his 14 goals this season.
More to come for Elanga in Forest.
Elanga has had a fantastic debut season at Forest, and Hodge was right to laud him over the weekend.
The 22-year-old had Charlie Taylor on toast every time he moved forward, and the Burnley defender isn’t the only one to face the same fate this season.
Elanga faces the problem of consistency. He will desire to produce the things more frequently and better his final result.
Although Elanga has five goals this season, some argue that he could have scored more with greater composure.
That’s only a minor issue, and for £15 million, Elanga appears to be a steal for Forest.
