‘Absolute Maximum’: David Prutton predicts Leeds, Ipswich, and Leicester promotion

David Prutton has made his forecast as Leeds United, Leicester City, Southampton, and Ipswich Town compete for promotion.

The Sky Sports expert believes that there will be more twists and turns in the forthcoming games as the race for a top-two finish intensifies.

The Foxes have a difficult schedule ahead of them, with games against Southampton and top-six side West Brom.

Prutton told the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I am still confident that Leeds United can achieve automatic promotion.” But, of course, I would be concerned about the team’s incapacity to eliminate opponents or perform at peak levels.

“Last weekend’s 1-0 setback at home to Blackburn Rovers was a result that none of us saw coming, with all due respect to Blackburn, given their performance against Bristol City earlier in the week. But Blackburn certainly produced a very tough defensive effort and a very, very well taken goal by a youngster named Sammie Szmodics, who has had a fantastic season.

“With Leeds, there has been enough to be concerned about during the last four games. However, the fact that Ipswich Town do not play for a while may aid Leeds’ mental state, allowing them to focus on their own portion of the game and hope that Ipswich slip up when it comes to their next match.

“At the moment, you have to admit that they deserve to be at the top of the division. But I didn’t see those three results with Leicester, Leeds, and Middlesbrough last weekend, therefore I believe, without being too pessimistic, that Leeds can still accomplish it since they aren’t the only uncertain team. In recent weeks, Ipswich and Leicester City have followed suit. I can definitely see West Brom getting something at Leicester this lunchtime.”

Leeds United must win the remainder of their games.

To ensure promotion to the Premier League, Leeds can only win their games and hope that other teams’ results favor them

A significant aspect in their success will be addressing their recent difficulties in turning opportunities into goals, as evidenced by their recent performances.

Strengthening their defense, especially in the late phases of the game, will be critical to securing crucial points.

Furthermore, they should play to their strengths, such as their remarkable record of scoring in the closing 10 minutes of games and their ability to create high-quality scoring opportunities.

Daniel Farke has done a terrific job, but it will be for naught if he cannot lift Leeds this season.

While the play-offs provide another opportunity for the Whites, they are a gamble that Farke will not take lightly.
