Feyenoord decided to sign Santiago Gimenez during the January transfer window.
As Nottingham Forest looks to bolster their striker options in January, Santiago Gimenez is reportedly not for sale this month.
After speaking with the club, the Feyenoord striker turned down a transfer to the City Ground when the Reds attempted to sign him in the summer.
It was rumored that he rejected a transfer because he was afraid of becoming involved in a Premier League relegation fight. However, this has been shown to be wildly incorrect, since Nuno Espirito Santo’s team is presently in third position, behind Liverpool and Arsenal.
Gimenez stayed at Feyenoord because he didn’t “get a very warm feeling” about joining Forest, according to Dennis te Kloese, director of football at Feyenoord.
Gimenez told ESPN that he spoke with Liverpool manager Arne Slot about a possible transfer to Forest.
Before leaving for Anfield last summer, the Mexico international striker had two successful seasons with Slot at Feyenoord after signing him in July 2022.
When I received the offer, I chatted with Slot a few times, he said.
He gave me his counsel when I asked him for it. That was the last time we communicated, but the content of the chat is still between us.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano maintains Gimenez is not for sale during the January transfer window, though it is unknown if Forest still has interest in the player. He stated on X that “Santia Gimenez is not available for sale at Feyenoord in January.” “Feyenoord insists on keeping all of their best players despite recent links.”
