Leander Dendoncker will be a success at Napoli after completing his loan move from Aston Villa this week.
That is according to former Fiorentina and Cagliari striker Lulu Oliveira, as reported by Area Napoli, who feels the Belgian will be an excellent addition to the Italian champions.
Dendoncker joined Napoli on loan this week, with a deal until the end of the season and the option to make the move permanent.
He’s moved to seek regular playing time after suffering under Unai Emery at Aston Villa this season, appearing in just 15 games and 389 minutes of action.
He hopes to become a regular for Walter Mazzari’s side in order to be included in Belgium’s Euro 2024 plans this summer, and he is likely to do so for the Italians, who are desperate for reinforcements for the second part of the season.
It remains to be seen whether he can recover in Serie A following his struggles at Aston Villa, but Oliveira is convinced he will be able to make an impact.
“The Belgian players are doing an interesting job,” he went on to say.
“The Federation helps these kids grow very well and throws them into the fray already at 16-17 years old, unlike the championship Italian, where young people only make a few appearances in Serie C.”
“Having said that, Napoli has accomplished a lot, and I know Dendoncker very well: he will perform the easy things and acquire more and more trust with time. The child has good feet, a strong frame, and can play well as a central defense.”
