A significant boost is expected for Leeds United ahead of the start of the new Championship season

A significant boost is predicted for Leeds United when the new Championship season begins.

The 2024-25 season’s fixtures were announced on Wednesday, with Leeds facing newly promoted Portsmouth at Elland Road on Saturday, August 10 at 12.30pm. Pompey have returned to the country’s second flight after an 11-year absence, having won League One last season, but bookmakers believe Daniel Farke’s Whites would benefit much from an opening weekend triumph.

Leeds, who started last season with only two points out of a possible nine, have already been installed as very substantial odds-on favourites for the battle, as part of the bookies’ strong Leeds outlook. The Whites are rated no higher than 2-5 and as low as 1-3 by some bookmakers, while Portsmouth are rated as early 7-1 favorites to win at Elland Road. The draw is rated as a 4-1 possibility.
