A new date for Nottingham Forest’s FFP decision has emerged before of the vital Luton Town game.
Nottingham Forest may have to wait a few more days to find out if they face any penalties for breaking financial rules.
The Reds were charged with violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in January. They appeared before an independent commission last Thursday and Friday as they began their defense against that claim.
The Premier League rules say that the commission “must provide its decision” within one week of the hearing’s conclusion. However, according to The Athletic, a ruling is not expected until Monday.
According to financial laws, Premier League clubs can only make a maximum deficit of £105 million over a rolling three-year period, or £35 million every season. For promoted teams, this is lowered, thus the Reds have been limited to losses of £61 million over the last three seasons – £13 million for the two seasons in the Championship before promotion, plus £35 million last season. It is unclear how far the club has gone beyond the limit.
Forest face relegation rivals Luton Town in a crucial match at Kenilworth Road on Saturday. Before the game, head coach Nuno Espirito Santo stated that he would like clarity regarding any potential points deduction as soon as possible.
“No, we are not nervous,” he declared during his pre-match press conference on Thursday, when questioned about the club’s fate. “We’ve been waiting since we learned that there would be a hearing. Let us wait and see.
“We don’t know precisely when it will occur. The club will take care of this. In terms of football, our team focuses solely on the pitch.
“We don’t know when it will come. I believe the sooner the better.”
Forest are now one spot and three points clear of the 18th-placed Hatters in the league. Nuno’s squad has ten games left to defend their top-flight status.
