Liam Delap, a Manchester City loanee, shone in the first part of the season for Hull City, but has not appeared for Leeds United’s promotion rivals since January due to injury.
There is little over a week till Hull City travels to Elland Road to play Leeds United. Both clubs are vying for promotion as the season nears its conclusion.
While United are vying for the title, City must work hard to finish in the top six. The Tigers sit eighth, three points behind the play-off places, although they have a game in hand on rivals Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion.
Liam Rosenior’s squad will travel to West Yorkshire on Easter Monday without first-choice striker Liam Delap. The Manchester City loanee, who has seven goals since arriving at the MKM Stadium, has not played since January due to a knee injury.
When asked for an update on Delap’s fitness, Rosenior stated, “All of the reports I’m getting are that he’s doing better and better and is getting ahead of schedule.” I don’t want to put too much pressure on him, but we’re hoping to have him in mid-April for a few weeks.
“We’ve decided to work with Manchester City because of their facilities and what they can provide him, and they’ll rehab him to the point where he can return to full training, so when he joins us, he’ll be totally fit. I believe that is the best option for him, and when that occurs, he will be treated as a new player. He’s been a significant loss for us.”
Rosenior and his team were in a training camp in Turkey this week, as they continue to prepare for the Championship run-in. City will host Championship strugglers Stoke City on Good Friday before their televised trip to Elland Road.
