‘Thrilled’: Ross Wilson responds to Nottingham Forest’s late-night transaction on deadline day

Nottingham Forest’s summer transfer window is now closed for another year, with some late business completed at the City Ground.

This summer, Nuno Espirito Santo has received plenty of support, with Evangelos Marinakis not holding back.

Forest have repaid the owner’s market ambitions with a strong start to the season, taking four points from their first two games.

Following a challenging 2023/24 season, a total of 11 new signings have been approved at the City Ground this summer.

And two of those came on the final day of the window, when Forest took advantage of some late opportunities to round off a busy summer.

One of the completed transactions has gone incredibly well within the club, with Ross Wilson revealing his opinions late on deadline day.

Ross Wilson left delighted by the deadline-day signing at Forest.

The first of the arrivals on Friday was the acquisition of Brazilian defender Morato, who Forest confirmed late that night.

Forest’s most notable acquisition was the season-long loan signing of James Ward-Prowse from West Ham United.

The Reds appeared to be making an opportunistic play by signing a highly experienced midfielder.

Speaking to the club’s website late on Friday night, Chief Football Officer Wilson expressed his immense joy in completing a deal for Ward-Prowse.

“We are delighted to welcome James Ward-Prowse to Nottingham Forest this evening.

“Everyone recognises James’ Premier League talent, as well as his excellent leadership and personal traits.

“I’ve known James for a long time, and when the opportunity to bring him here arrived, Nuno and our ownership acted immediately.

“We’re confident he’ll make an immediate impact both on and off the pitch, and we look forward to him joining up with the squad.”

Forest fills Danilo’s vacuum with James Ward-Prowse

Danilo’s horrific injury could not have started the 2024/25 season off any worse.

Fortunately, the diagnosis was not as serious as originally believed, and Danilo just had minor surgery.

Nonetheless, it strained Forest’s alternatives in the holding midfield roles after only a few minutes of action in the new season.

However, Marinakis and Wilson have reacted in the market by bringing in a player who could provide a good alternative to Nuno in the starting lineup.
