Nottingham Forest have a new striker in their sights ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline, and they are currently pushing hard for the signing.
Forest reportedly flew out for talks with Santiago Gimenez after their bid for Eddie Nketiah fell through.
However, there are certainly more irons in the fire as the club attempts to give Nuno Espirito Santo every tool he needs to propel Forest higher up the Premier League.
After four points in two games to begin the new season, excitement is high, and the club hopes to have its team well-stocked by Friday’s deadline.
Omar Marmoush wants a deal with Nottingham Forest
According to BILD, Forest are now working hard to finalize a deal to sign the Egyptian striker.
The 25-year-old is coming off a successful season in the Bundesliga, where he scored 17 goals across all competitions for the German club.
Forest aim to clinch a deal to recruit a new striker before the deadline and have an option open for Saturday’s match against Wolves.
Last season, Marmoush was recognized by manager Dino Topmoller for scoring twice against Borussia Dortmund.
He relayed the following: “Omar is a fantastic boy who always gives maximum effort in addition to his blistering pace.”
Marmoush is also an international for Egypt, where he frequently plays alongside Mohamed Salah, and has five goals in 29 appearances.
According to the German tabloid, Marmoush wants to move to Forest and is desperate for it to happen before the deadline tomorrow night.
Forest will now attempt to reach an agreement with Frankfurt and guarantee the player is added to the squad in time to meet the deadline.
Marmoush could be the ideal replacement to Santiago Gimenez.
Clearly, Gimenez remains the priority objective at Forest, but it’s reassuring to know that backup plans are in place if that doesn’t work out.
At 25, he fits the profile of the players Forest attempted to sign this summer, and with 17 goals in 2023/24, he can certainly score goals.
Marmoush would most likely cost the same as Gimenez, but he has played in a higher-level league.
His speed is also a plus, as Forest desperately need a striker who can go in behind and finish through balls.
Marmoush would be in his element doing so with Morgan Gibbs-White providing the ammunition, and we believe there is a lot to admire about this specific transaction.
