Leeds United is “very close” to signing Isaac Schmidt, according to Corner Magazine.
The Swiss news source claimed via X on Thursday (August 29) that the 24-year-old’s chances of signing with the Whites are “very high.”
Schmidt, as previously reported by Sport.Ch (23 June), wants to leave his current team, FC St. Gallen, following an outstanding 2023/24 season.
Leeds United are close to signing FC St. Gallen winger Isaac Schmidt.
It looks like a busy few days at Elland Road before the transfer window closes on Friday (30 August).
The Whites and Daniel Farke have prioritized the acquisition of a new midfielder, and it appears that the team is on track to address that problem.
According to Sacha Tavolieri of X, Ao Tanaka’s transfer from Fortuna Düsseldorf to Leeds United is a “done deal”.
It appears that all that remains is an official statement, and Tanaka will be a Leeds player. However, in an intriguing twist for Elland Road supporters, that may not be the only deal completed before Friday.
In addition to Tanaka, it appears that the club may shortly announce the signing of Schmidt.
The Swiss footballer is extremely flexible, playing primarily as a left-back but also moving forward. That might be very important for Farke as he attempts to push Leeds for another promotion.
