Dan Bardell believes Gustavo Hamer is a Premier League player who would be an excellent signing for Leeds United before the deadline.
On August 28, GiveMeSport reported that the Whites were willing to make a second bid for the 27-year-old, who is eager to transfer to Elland Road.
The Blades are unwilling to go with their best player and could seek a fee of up to £15 million for the Dutch midfielder.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes the former Coventry City player might command a Premier League move, but it would be a top move for Daniel Farke’s team.
Bardell told MOT Leeds News exclusively: “He’s a fantastic player at Championship level, and I believe he should play in the Premier League.”
“I’m astonished he’s still with Sheffield United.
“You’d be looking at north of £15 million for Hamer, and I’m not sure Leeds would want to spend that on a player.
“He is the greatest midfielder in the Championship, and if Leeds sign him, it will greatly benefit and strengthen them.
“Hamer should be playing at a higher level than the Championship so if Leeds can get him that would be a great signing.”
Gustavo Hamer could quit Sheffield United and join Leeds United.
The midfielder was a standout player in the Blades’ extremely poor year, which saw them relegated without a fight.
With Chris Wilder’s team currently in the Championship, they have a quality talent who has the potential to be one of the best players in the second tier.
Farke and Co. would be making a true statement of purpose if they could get the Dutchman in to contribute to their midfield talk.
After losing Glen Kamara to Rennes earlier in the transfer window, this possible signing will become even more vital if it goes through.
Spending more than £15 million on a player in this tier could be risky, but if promotion is gained with Hamer playing a key role, it could be remembered as a wise decision.
