Liverpool’s transfer window is finally coming to life as the club prepares for a busy week leading up to deadline day.
Federico Chiesa has emerged as a target for the Reds, and preliminary conversations with Juventus have begun regarding a potential deal.
The Italian, however, is not the only attacker linked with the club in the last days of the transfer season.
Liverpool are also keeping an eye on Kingsley Coman, who has been linked with a move ahead of the transfer deadline.
According to rumors, Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal has gone ahead of Liverpool in the race to recruit Coman.
Al Hilal makes ‘big bid’ for Liverpool’s Kingsley Coman.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal has made a significant bid to sign Coman before the transfer deadline.
The French international has yet to publicly decide whether he wants to leave Bayern Munich, leaving the door open for a prospective transfer.
Romano further claims that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is a ‘admirer’ of Coman, having worked with him at the Allianz Arena.
With Liverpool also in the mix, the ball is squarely in Coman’s court as he attempts to make a critical choice about his future.
Does Liverpool really need Coman?
Coman was praised as an exceptional player by former Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes, and he has made 296 appearances for the club since signing in 2015.
His injury record, however, is not encouraging, as he has missed 45 games for Bayern Munich over the last three seasons.
With three years remaining on his current contract, the Bavarian giants are sure to demand a large sum, which might be seen as another stumbling block.
Liverpool already has five talented strikers in Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo, therefore they should invest in other parts of the pitch.
Even if Arne Slot feels the need for attacking reinforcements, he would be better suited pursuing Chiesa, who is available for roughly £15 million this summer.
Stylistically, the Italian winger would be a better match for Liverpool because he can play on the right wing, where Salah is now the sole option.
Despite his injury difficulties, Coman is a superb player in his own right and will have plenty of suitors.
Whether Liverpool responds to Al Hilal’s bid remains to be seen.
