According to Football Insider, Nottingham Forest are aiming to seal the transfer of Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah following further talks.
On the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior journalist Pete O’Rourke highlighted that negotiations between both teams are progressing, and all parties remain committed to reaching an agreement.
Arsenal are holding out for their £30 million asking price, and there is optimism that a deal can be concluded in the coming days.
According to sources, Nketiah is thrilled to pursue the new chance, which includes the possibility of playing regular first-team games at City Ground.
Football Insider reported on August 22 that the striker had accepted personal terms with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team following negotiations with the manager.
Forest have confirmed that the 25-year-old will be their first-choice striker, leading a homegrown core that includes Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Elliot Anderson.
Nottingham Forest Forest have been looking for a forward this summer due to concerns about Taiwo Awoniyi’s availability and Chris Wood’s ability to lead the line for a whole season.
They want to complete Eddie Nketiah’s contract with Arsenal by August 31.
They had also been linked with signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who had previously been linked with Tottenham, but there were worries about his willingness to complete the transfer.
As a result, Nketiah presented Nuno with the best choice, and all parties are now hoping for a successful finish to the transaction.
He has been at Arsenal since arriving from Chelsea’s youth in 2015, making his debut two years later.
Since then, he has made 168 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals while playing few minutes in the majority of them.
A transfer to Forest is considered to be the type of challenge he is looking for at this point in his career, with him leading the line in the Premier League.
Forest competed with Wolves, Crystal Palace, and West Ham for Nketiah’s signature, but now appear to have won the race as they close in on a deal.
