Leeds have made an approach to sign Feyenoord attacker, according to reports

According to Joe Donnohue, Leeds United have approached Feyenoord forward Calvin Stengs about signing.

According to a Yorkshire Evening Post journalist [20 August], Leeds looked into the 25-year-old winger but were told he is not available.

Daniel Farke’s side has now sold both Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter since their previous signing, Jayden Bogle, last month, leaving the Whites without depth in several places.

Leeds United approached Feyenoord for Calvin Stengs.

Stengs had a very good 2023/24 season in the Eredivisie, scoring six goals and assisting 12 times in 29 games after only joining Feyenoord last summer.

The 25-year-old attacker, who can play as an offensive midfielder or right winger, has eight caps for the Netherlands and scored three goals.

With experience in the Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, Stengs has the potential to replace either Summerville or Rutter, and Farke will be eager to get a fresh player in.

However, with Feyenoord’s stance clearly obvious, Leeds will need to ramp up their search for alternatives if they want to recruit numerous attackers before the summer transfer window shuts.

While Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto are capable of playing on the wings, Elland Road’s roster is lacking depth, particularly following Rutter’s £40 million sale to Brighton.

The clock is ticking for Farke and his colleagues to complete transactions, and with teams well aware of their financial windfall from the sales of Rutter, Summerville, and Archie Gray, those transfers will not be simple.

The Whites have put themselves in a bad situation with only 10 days left in the transfer window, and Stengs is yet another player the administration can mark off their list of potential recruits.
