Nottingham Forest set to up their offer for ‘brilliant’ 26-goal forward in ‘coming days’

Nottingham Forest are apparently preparing to increase their bid for their top striker target this summer, according to reports.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest began their Premier League season with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth at the City Ground, with a late Antoine Semenyo goal cancelling out Chris Woods’ opener.

Forest have signed Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic, Ramon Sosa, and Portuguese star Jota Silva.

Now, the East Midlands club is said to be looking to add a new striker to their squad before the summer deadline, and they are prepared to make a second offer for their main target.

Forest is ‘preparing second bid’ for Santiago Gimenez.

According to HITC, Nottingham Forest has made a bid of €25 million (£21 million) for Santiago Gimenez and is in talks to reach an agreement with the Rotterdam giants.

Earlier this summer, we reported that Spurs had identified Feyenoord’s Gimenez as their top target before signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth for £65 million.

According to HITC, Feyenoord does not want to transfer Gimenez at this time, but the player is interested in moving to England and the Premier League.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Forest made an initial approach for the forward, but it was rejected, with Feyenoord needing €40 million-45 million to complete his departure this summer. According to the source, the Eredivisie side’s request could be reduced as the deadline approaches.

AS also claims that Forest could make an offer in the ‘coming few days’ that is more in line with the Dutch side’s criteria.

Santiago Gimenez might be the signing of the summer.

The Mexican striker was chastised by his father at the Copa America, but if Forest can complete a deal for Gimenez this summer, it would be a fantastic move.

Gimenez was outstanding at Feyenoord, which was managed by Arne Slot, scoring 26 goals in all competitions. He was described as “fantastic” by Feyenoord legend Mario Been.

The Mexican scored twice against PEC Zwolle to maintain his excellent form from the previous season, and Forest’s addition of a goalscoring marvel like Gimenez might be critical to the club’s chances of remaining in the Premier League come May.
