Nottingham Forest are stepping up their efforts to sign a new centre forward, with Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah on their radar.
The Reds already have Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi on the roster, but the team is looking for another option.
Arsenal are eager to do business with Nketiah, but they are seeking a cost of around £30-£35 million for the player’s services.
Forest has also been linked with Santiago Gimenez, with reports claiming that an initial proposal for him was rejected over the weekend.
With slightly under two weeks left in the transfer window. Forest appears to be making moves in the transfer market.
Nottingham Forest’s deal for Arsenal player Eddie Nketiah has been rejected.
According to David Ornstein, Arsenal rejected a preliminary bid of £25 million with add-ons because they wanted more money.
It is also stated that the Reds have made Nketiah their top transfer target before the transfer window closes.
Nketiah did not start in Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday.
Now, his future at the Emirates Stadium appears gloomy, with reports claiming that Forest are still working on a deal for the 25-year-old.
Nketiah’s statistics at Arsenal aren’t especially outstanding, with only 38 goals in 168 appearances.
However, that is arguably inaccurate because he was never considered Arsenal’s number one striker during his tenure there.
Nketiah scored against Manchester United during the 2022/23 season, and Roy Keane praised him as ‘simply amazing’.
Forest would take a risk with Nketiah’s signing.
The concern is that Nketiah hasn’t gotten used to being the primary striker at Arsenal, and his goal record isn’t very impressive.
However, Forest must understand their position in the food chain, and it is possible that the club recognizes that he has the potential to develop into a top player.
Nketiah appears to know how to be in the right position at the right time, and he is a Premier League-experienced player.
According to Who Scored, Nketiah’s major talents are ball control and finishing, despite frequently being fouled.
Forest made an offer that was respectable, but it was rejected by the Gunners, who are determined to get their full value.
A sum of £30-£35 million sounds steep for a player who also earns roughly £100,000 per week, but maybe the sides can strike an agreement.
However, one thing seems definite.Forest will not waste time at the end of the summer transfer window – again!
