Latest Nottingham Forest news: Reds cut roster on January transfer deadline day.
Brandon Aguilera, a Nottingham Forest trainee, has signed for Bristol Rovers on deadline day.
The 20-year-old will spend the second half of the season on loan at the League One club. It will be considered as a fantastic opportunity for him to gain first-team experience.
Aguilera is seen as a promising prospect at the City Ground. However, regular playing time has been difficult to come by on the Trent River’s banks.

After signing with the Reds from Alajuelense in 2022, the Costa Rican went out on loan to Guanacasteca and subsequently Estoril. Last summer, he joined his Forest comrades and drew their attention.
He shined when given opportunities in preseason friendlies. And after showing off his skills at a training camp in Spain, defender Moussa Niakhate exclaimed, “Brandon, what a baller!”
Aguilera made his Garibaldi debut earlier this season, coming off the bench in the Carabao Cup defeat to Burnley in August. He had to wait until last month for another chance with the senior team, when newly hired head coach Nuno Espirito Santo used him as a substitute in the FA Cup replay against Blackpool and the Premier League loss to Brentford.
Nuno remarked of Aguilera’s appearance at Bloomfield Road: “He made a terrific impression coming off the bench. He is still a young lad with a lot of potential who needs to make better decisions, but he performed admirably in challenging circumstances.”
The Reds will hope that his time with Rovers will help him grow. Managing outgoings was a focus for the club during the winter window, with the goal of reducing Nuno’s squad.
Aguilera’s exit followed the loan signing of Nigel Doughty Academy forward Julian Larsson. The 22-year-old will spend the second half of this season with League Two Morecambe.
