Liverpool transfer news comes as Jarrad Branthwaite’s talents are still in high demand, just as they were in 2019.
This summer, Manchester United expressed interest in Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite for a transfer. Despite two unsuccessful bids for the England international, the 22-year-old remains at Goodison Park.
On Sunday, however, Sky Bet cut the odds on the centre-back joining Liverpool. He is currently put at 2/1 to make an unexpected move across Stanley Park, while United is now priced at 3/1.
Other destinations that bookmakers have priced up include Manchester City (4/1) and Real Madrid (12/1). However, the defender has already been linked with a move to Anfield.
In February 2023, while Branthwaite was on loan at PSV Eindhoven, the Mail reported that Liverpool, United, and Roma were planning to send scouts to watch the defender in action. Branthwaite is also a popular Premier League target.
Speaking to the ECHO in 2021, Eric Kinder, who worked at Carlisle United at the time, described how Branthwaite drew interest from a number of Premier League clubs before moving to Goodison Park. He stated, “Carlisle cannot turn down a Premier League club.”
“Obviously, I would have preferred Jarrad to stay here, play 250 games for the first team, and then move on, but I had countless phone calls.
“I told them one thing. I said, ‘Listen to me, come make an offer, and take him.’ Several Premier League clubs contacted me about him, but only Everton signed him.
As always, it is important noting that no credible sources have linked Branthwaite, who is under contract with Everton until 2027, with a move to Liverpool. Betting odds are frequently shortened when a large number of bets are placed, making the market less profitable.
The England international, who made 41 appearances for the Blues in all competitions last season, is currently out after undergoing a’minor surgery’ this summer.
