Leeds United are in talks with Hammarby about signing striker Jusef Erabi before the transfer deadline, according to Marc Mechenoua.
The Le Perisien writer stated via X on August 16 that the Whites and Championship rivals Norwich City are both interested in the Swede and have been aware of his price.
Hammarby wants €10 million [£8.52 million] for the forward, and conversations are understood to be underway over a possible deal.
Daniel Farke is under pressure to strengthen the squad, with Georginio Rutter the most recent starter to leave after Brighton activated his release clause [David Ornstein, August 14].
Leeds United face Norwich in the Jonathan Rowe pursuit.
Every time a new release clause appears, another key member of the Whites squad departs, the picture at Elland Road becomes gloomier.
After Crysencio Summerville left for West Ham, it was reported that Farke wanted three fresh arrivals to keep the club in play-off contention [The Athletic, 5 August].
Rutter’s move almost definitely adds to that figure, as does the team’s chaotic start to the season, which has seen six goals surrendered and an early elimination from the Carabao Cup.
The Whites are already battling the Canaries for their own attacking potential, Jonathan Rowe, as they want to replace Summerville with the 21-year-old winger.
An offer is set to be made to outbid rivals Marseille [TEAMtalk, 12 August], who are unwilling to pay the £15 million asking price, while Monaco is currently stuck because they need to offload a player first [Santi Aouna, 13 August].
Erabi, also 21, may replace Rutter in attack, but time is running out to even have the squad looking like it did when last season’s promotion quest failed.
