Samu Omorodion has had a weird summer, and following his links with Nottingham Forest, he is now concerned about his future.
The outstanding 20-year-old was linked with a transfer to the City Ground until bigger clubs stepped in to sign him.
For weeks, it appeared that a move to a prominent Premier League team was on the cards, but that may not be the case.
Atletico Madrid has signed Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, which will move Omorodion down the pecking order at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Now that some information on the teenager has surfaced, it could be beneficial to Forest as the club looks for a striker.
Nottingham Forest-linked Omorodion will not be joining Chelsea.
The Daily Mail announced last night that Omorodion will not be joining Chelsea after an agreement to sign him fell through.
There were complications with the contract offered to the young talisman, and as things stand, he will remain with Atletico Madrid – for the time being!
This afternoon, it was revealed that news of Chelsea’s downfall has prompted other clubs to seek his services.
According to Ryan Taylor of The Mirror, an unknown Premier League club has indicated interest in acquiring Omorodion this summer.
It seems evident that Atletico will let him depart this summer, and several top-flight clubs are looking for a striker.
Omorodion, who was on loan at Alaves last season, impressed with nine goals in 36 games across all competitions.
Forest will probably look for something better than Omorodion.
Forest has been associated with players who are larger and better than the 20-year-old.
Vitor Roque of Barcelona has been linked with a move to Forest, as has Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.
Although Chelsea were interested in Omorodion, Forest may have felt it was too risky to sign the teenager.
Perhaps a more established player like Gimenez or a wonderkid like Roque might be a better fit.
In any case, it appears that clubs are once again vying for Omorodion, and it will be interesting to find out who the nameless club is.
