Leeds United make a last-ditch approach for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

Leeds United made a last-ditch attempt to recruit Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sayki over the weekend, according to Lyall Thomas.

The Sky Sports journalist revealed on his personal X account [12 August] that, while Burnley and Norwich City made bids, the 21-year-old is poised to join Sheffield United on loan instead.

It is anticipated that the winger will fly to Bramall Lane on Monday, August 12, to get a medical before joining the Blades for the 2024/25 season.

Leeds United will not be able to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, disappointing fans at Elland Road, as he has decided to join the Blades instead.

Daniel Farke’s team needed to replace the vacuum created by Crysencio Summerville’s transfer to West Ham United earlier this month, and the 21-year-old appeared to be an ideal candidate.

Leeds reportedly offered £15 million to sign Rak-Sayki [Alan Nixon], but Palace were clearly only looking for the appropriate loan agreement, as the youngster has a lot of promise at Selhurst Park.

With the winger closing a deal with Sheffield United, attention will turn to Norwich star Jonathan Rowe, who is also expected to be available for £15 million this summer [Daily Mirror].

Those rumours have become louder when the 21-year-old requested to be left out of Norwich City’s opening day match against Oxford United on Saturday, August 10 [Connor Southwell].

While Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James are decent possibilities for Farke on the sides, Leeds’ roster lacks depth, something they must address before the transfer window shuts.

Although Rak-Sakyi is no longer an option, Leeds can still sign Rowe if they act swiftly enough.
