According to HITC, Leeds United have approached Liverpool about signing Bobby Clark on loan.
According to an online source [11 August], Leeds will face competition from Championship rivals Norwich City and Sheffield United for the 19-year-old midfielder.
It is understood, however, that RB Salzburg is nearing a deal for the Liverpool star this summer, with both parties exploring loan and permanent alternatives.
Will Leeds United sign Bobby Clark on loan?
While Clark would be a very exciting loan signing for the Whites, it appears that Austrian club RB Salzburg is leading the chase for his services.
The 19-year-old has only made 14 first-team appearances for the Reds since being promoted from the club’s development teams, so he is likely looking for a new challenge.
Despite his short experience with the Reds, Jurgen Klopp gave Clark his Premier League and Europa League debuts last season, demonstrating confidence in his skills at Anfield.
At his age, he must be looking for regular football, and Elland Road could be the ideal environment for his growth. It could be a far more painless transition for him than migrating to Europe.
Daniel Farke has showed no reservations about trusting the younger generation in the Leeds club, with 18-year-old Archie Gray playing 54 games in all competitions last season.
Charlie Crew, 18, is the latest rising talent to get into Farke’s team, appearing on the bench for Leeds’ 3-3 draw with Portsmouth on Saturday, August 10, despite having yet to make his full debut.
Clark will most certainly receive the vital minutes that he and Liverpool seek ahead of next season, but the Whites must act swiftly if they are to clinch the player’s signing.
Fans at Elland Road will undoubtedly be crossing their fingers that a deal gets finalized this summer.
