Liverpool is about to bank up to £27.5 million.
Liverpool are close to selling Fabio Carvalho.
The attacking midfielder has impressed in preseason after returning from a standout loan spell at Hull City. Carvalho scored in pre-season victories over Arsenal and Manchester United, playing as a left winger for Arne Slot’s team.
However, the 21-year-old is behind Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota in the pecking order for a spot on the wing, with the player claiming that the No.10 position is his best function.
As a result, Carvalho is ready to leave Liverpool just two years after signing from Fulham. Brentford is willing to pay a fee of £27.5 million including add-ons, while the Reds have a 17.5% sell-on charge.
According to Italian writer Fabrizio Romano, Carvalho will undergo the first portion of his medical exam today and the second on Monday. He said on X (previously Twitter): “I understand Brentford have scheduled the first portion of Fábio Carvalho’s medical for Sunday and the second part for Monday. £20 million fixed price, £7.5 million in add-ons, and a 17.5% sell-on clause to Liverpool, as predicted.”
Meanwhile, Romano says that Kaide Gordon is ready to join Championship club Swansea City on loan. The winger missed the entire 2022-23 season due to a growing-related ailment and struggled last season, therefore he is motivated to play regular games.
Gordon, 19, became Liverpool’s youngest FA Cup goalscorer in January 2022, scoring against Shrewsbury Town in the third round. In February 2021, he joined the Reds from Derby County for a fee of up to £3 million.
