Leeds United are concerned that Brighton will rekindle interest in Georginio Rutter after selling Deniz Undav for £28 million, according to the Sunday People.
The newspaper stated on 11 August (page 59) that the Seagulls may make a second approach after a £30 million bid was rejected earlier in the window.
The cash acquired from Stuttgart for the Germany international may allow the Premier League club to “bankroll a second push” for the 22-year-old.
Leeds United could lose Georginio Rutter.
After already lost Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray, the Whites will be hoping to keep the rest of their key players.
Wilfried Gnonto and Rutter started the opening day game against Portsmouth, which could indicate that their future at Elland Road is secure.
If Brighton returns with an offer that Daniel Farke and his team cannot refuse, a move away becomes more possible.
The Frenchman had a fantastic season last year and will seek to recreate similar form in the championship this year.
That form has definitely drawn the attention of Premier League clubs, which is unsurprising.
If Leeds were to lose Rutter, it would leave a gap in their roster that would be nearly tough to fill in the second tier.
Options inside the squad, such as Brenden Aaronson, will not provide what the former Hoffenheim player can, leaving Farke’s squad significantly weaker.
