Santiago Gimenez, a Feyenoord striker, discussed his future earlier this summer, before being linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.
The Reds are reportedly devising an audacious strategy to sign the 23-year-old Mexican international. Since joining Feyenoord in 2022, he has scored an impressive 38 goals in 62 games in the Dutch top division.
Gimenez told Dutch radio Rijnmond last month: “There is interest from other teams, but nothing substantial, no offer or anything like that. So I concentrate on the here and now.”
Gimenez is reportedly under contract with Feyenoord until 2027, having been signed by Arne Slot, who is now in charge of Liverpool. “If there is an opportunity which compares to Feyenoord, then I have to look at it,” according to him.
“After that, we will see. I am an ambitious person, but I am still here and have a contract. I’ll try my best for the club till my last day here.
“The only one who knows if I’m ready for the next step is God. He determines my future and whether I am prepared for it. I’ve assured Dennis (Feyenoord CEO Dennis te Kloese) and Brian (Feyenoord head coach Brian Priske) that they don’t have to be concerned about my focus.”
