Nottingham Forest aim to sign some more players before the transfer window ends, but there are also some transactions to be done the other way, with many currently considered surplus.
Nuno Espirito Santo wanted to evaluate his entire squad during pre-season, but some things are beginning to take shape.
Joe Worrall, Emmanuel Dennis, Omar Richards, and Josh Bowler did not play against Villarreal, and if offers come in, they will almost certainly leave the club.
Another probable departure has emerged, and it will eventually be one that is popular among Forest fans.
Nottingham Forest player has interest from Bundesliga
Matt Turner, a Nottingham Forest player, has expressed interest in the Bundesliga, according to journalist Tom Bogert of Golazo America.
However, he claims that Forest are difficult to work with, and that nothing is too close at this point.
Forest paid £10 million for Turner from Arsenal, and it is reported that the goalkeeper wants to transfer to Germany.
At this point, the club’s identity is unknown, but interest in the 30-year-old USMNT number one is growing.
Turner started the season as the number one custodian last year and was also tasked with carrying the gloves when Nuno Espirito Santo arrived.
However, following a series of high-profile errors, the team decided to bring in Matz Sels, and who knows what might have happened if Turner had played the entire season.
It wasn’t pretty, and with Carlos Miguel now on Trentside, Turner is currently the third-choice goalkeeper.
Forest must offload Turner this summer.
Although Forest has learned some lessons in the transfer market, this has to be among the club’s worst commercial decisions.
Signing a player for £10 million isn’t a big deal in the larger scheme of things, but his performances have been disappointing.
His kicking is terrible, and he cost Forest several goals in 21 appearances during the 2023/24 season.
Forest may be fighting a lost battle to convince a club to buy Turner, especially considering the price they paid for him a year ago.
As a result, they may have to reach an agreement on a loan transaction in which the club pays a reasonable loan price, which would benefit both sides at this point.
Hopefully, this can be resolved fast.
