Nottingham Forest fans have seen six new players join their ranks this season, but they are a little greedy and want a striker.
Chris Wood, who scored 14 Premier League goals last season, and Taiwo Awoniyi are currently among the Reds’ squad members.
However, Wood will turn 33 during the next season, while Awoniyi has a less-than-stellar injury record at the City Ground.
Forest are hoping to add a talisman to their ranks ahead of the new season, as Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad lacks backup players.
It’s been a long time coming, but with the new season only a week away, Forest have finally been connected with a striker.
Nottingham Forest wants Santiago Gimenez.
According to 1908 in Holland, Forest will make a firm effort this week to sign the Mexican talisman ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
The 23-year-old has been at Feyenoord since 2022, when he joined from Cruz Azul.
Gimenez scored twice over the weekend as Feyenoord won the Johan Cruyff Cup on penalties over PSV.
The man with 29 caps for Mexico had a great 2023/24 campaign, scoring 26 goals and assisting eight times in 41 games.
It is believed that PSV would want a large money if they wanted to sell the player, and it is unclear whether Gimenez would welcome an offer from Forest.
In September 2023, Feyenoord icon Mario Been described him as ‘really wonderful’ after the Eredivisie club’s recent success.
Gimenez would be an excellent signing for Forest.
This is the type of striker link that Forest fans would undoubtedly support ahead of the next Premier League season.
Once again, the team is looking for a player with plenty of promise and high market value.
At 23, Gimenez is poised for a great future, and this is the type of deal that would undoubtedly excite Forest fans.
The player will have joined Feyenoord from Cruz Azul with the goal of progressing to one of Europe’s top five divisions.
With Forest set to come calling, it will be interesting to see if he is willing to leave the Eredivisie to sign for a team that isn’t considered one of the biggest in the Premier League.
Gimenez would play a lot of football at Forest, which would be a good motivation for the youngster to get a taste of the Premier League.
