According to Football Insider, the Newcastle United player might strike for a surprise move to Liverpool this month.

The boyhood Liverpool supporter has been intrigued by the Merseyside club’s “concrete and active” interest in signing him.

Negotiations between the two clubs regarding a player-exchange agreement broke down at the end of June, but Liverpool’s interest remains.

Newcastle was only interested in conducting business at that point if Jarell Quansah could go the other way, but Liverpool had no intention of doing so.

A player-exchange deal is still feasible, according to Football Insider, and Liverpool has offered Joe Gomez to help the process along.

Gordon is thought to be very interested in moving to Anfield, but Newcastle are also willing to offer him a new and improved contract to keep him happy.

There are already suspicions among the north-east giants that Gordon may try to organize a move for himself when he returns from his post-Euros sabbatical, with one option being that he will effectively retire.

The England international was on the books at Liverpool as a child but was released when he was 11 years old.

Newcastle United values Anthony Gordon at £100 million.

If Liverpool pulls off this blockbuster transfer, it will come at a cost, as the Magpies hope to make a significant profit from his probable sale.

Last month, Football Insider stated that Newcastle valued the 23-year-old at £75 million, with add-ons worth up to £100 million.

In January 2023, the north-east giants paid £45 million to buy Everton’s left winger.

Gordon has impressed at St. James’ Park, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists across all competitions last season.

Leaving the Magpies would be a huge loss to Eddie Howe’s team, especially as he won the club’s Player of the Season title for the 2023-24 season.
