Çaykur Rizespor coach İlhan Palut has told Turkish media that the team does not anticipate to re-sign Nottingham Forest player Jonjo Shelvey.
The former Liverpool and Newcastle United player spent last season on loan with the Super Lig club, and they intend to bring him back.
Sporx reported on Palut’s words when asked if Shevley would return to Rizespor. Palut revealed that they attempted to sign the Nottingham Forest player but were unable to reach an agreement.
“It does not appear that he will be returning to the club. We make plans without him. I don’t think we could find common ground. “We have other plans,” explained the Rizespor coach.
Last month, we reported from Turkey that Rizespor were hoping to re-sign Shelvey but were unable to reach an agreement with Nottingham Forest on a transfer fee.
At the time, it was reported that the Premier League side sought €6 million for the central midfielder, although Rizespor were only willing to pay €4.
Shelvey made 29 appearances for the Turkish club last season, scoring twice. He has a contract with Forest until June 2025.
