Liverpool has been relatively quiet during this transfer season, but the rumour mill has continued to associate many players with a move to Anfield.
Arne Slot appears to want to strengthen the centre-back position, but the Dutch manager also wants to add a new wide attacker.
Christian Falk, a German football analyst, earlier stated that the Reds are interested in signing Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, and the player is already aware of this.
Jermaine Pennant, an ex-Liverpool player, has supported his former team to sign the German, believing the Reds should bring in an experienced player like Sane to replace Mohamed Salah, who has been linked with a move away from the club in recent times.
The 41-year-old was particularly impressed with the Kaisers’ performance in knocking Arsenal out of the Champions League quarter-finals last season.
Pennant stated (via The Mirror):
“You need someone with experience to replace Mohamed Salah, such as Leroy Sane.” That would be an excellent signing in my opinion; he has pace and can cut in from either side. When he played at the Emirates, he was just sensational, tearing Arsenal apart. So if he can do that against Arsenal at the Emirates, he would be a fantastic purchase. He is familiar with the Premier League from his time with City.
Last season, Sane had a solid campaign with Bayern Munich, scoring 10 goals and assisting 13 times across all competitions.
However, he did not have a successful European Championships with Germany, as he was largely utilized as a substitute, making only two starts and failing to score or assist.
Nonetheless, he previously demonstrated his abilities in the Premier League with Manchester City, winning several league titles. As a result, if Liverpool signs him, they will be making a wise decision.
However, Sane is likely to be an expensive option because, despite entering the final year of his current contract and thus being available in a cut-price deal, he currently earns around £386,000-a-week in wages, even more than the highest Liverpool earner, Mohammed Salah.
