Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as the Reds hope to enhance Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad ahead of the new season
Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in signing Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios as Nuno Espirito Santo’s roster continues to be strengthened.
Rios, a Colombia international, has been the focus of much transfer speculation in recent weeks after leading his team to this year’s Copa America final. And he is allegedly on the Reds’ radar.
According to Turkish media site Aslinda, Galatasaray is “working intensively” to sign the 24-year-old after having a proposal of 16 million euros (£13.4 million) rejected. They also mention Forest and German club Borussia Dortmund with showing interest in the player.
Rios has previously been linked with a transfer to the Premier League this summer. Earlier this month, Brazilian daily UOL reported that Everton and Leicester City had inquired about him. Manchester United were also rumored to be interested in signing him.
It was earlier claimed that Palmeiras sought 15-20 million euros (£12.6-16.8 million) for Rios, who is under contract until 2026. They appear to have raised his asking price, with Aslinda stating that the Brazilian club is now seeking £21 million.
Forest have already added Elliot Anderson to their midfield options for the upcoming Premier League season. It is a section of the pitch where they are especially well-stocked.
Anderson is one of five players signed so far. Carlos Miguel, Eric da Silva Moreira, and Nikola Milenkovic have spent time getting to know their new colleagues since signing the contract. Midfielder Marko Stamenic will spend the season on loan at Olympiacos.
Further signings are expected at the City Ground before the transfer window expires next month. The aim will be to bolster Nuno’s resources at the top end of the pitch, with the Portuguese emphasizing that adding alternatives out wide should be at the top of the agenda.
Scouting the Brazilian market has benefited the club in recent seasons. Danilo arrived from Palmeiras in January 2022, while Miguel and Murillo were signed from Corinthians.
