Leeds may make a statement signing this summer that could propel them back into the Premier League.
So far in the window, the Whites have made some great acquisitions, with Joe Rodon and Jayden Bogle standing out the most.
However, they are still looking to strengthen as Daniel Farke looks to correct the mistakes of last season, which saw them fall away toward the end.
Having said that, they are currently linked with a striker who might help them win the Championship.
Sammie Szmodics might propel Leeds to promotion.
Leeds and Ipswich have been linked with a transfer for Blackburn Rovers offensive midfielder Sammie Szmodics.
The Tractor Boys appear to be winning the chase, but no deal has been reached as of yet because the two teams’ values are still different.
If Leeds can seize the opportunity and get him to Elland Road this summer, they may win the Championship.
Szmodics scored 27 league goals last season and won the Golden Boot title, so if he teams up with Farke, there’s a decent possibility he can recreate that success.
Sammie Szmodic’s price tag
Szmodics has only a year left on his contract at Ewood Park, so Blackburn won’t be able to demand much more than £10 million for his services.
Ipswich had a £6 million proposal rejected, while Rovers are reportedly holding out for £8 million, which is a reasonable sum for Leeds.
Perhaps if they can sell him a compelling project with Premier League football as the goal in 12 months, he will choose to join the West Yorkshire giants.
