Nottingham Forest has already been active in the summer’s transfer market; here’s a round-up of the latest transfer news and speculation.
Nottingham Forest will hope to avoid another terrible relegation struggle this season.
The team has already signed five new players this summer, including Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic, Marko Stamenic, Carlos Miguel, and Eric da Silva Moreira.
Forest are well into their preparations for the new season; they last played on Friday evening, losing 1-0 to Spanish club Elche. Nuno Espirito Santo deployed his whole team, making 11 changes at halftime, but will continue to hunt for new players until the transfer market closes on August 30.

Nottinghamshire Live presents a round-up of Forest’s newest market rumours.
Jake O’Brien
According to Fabrizio Romano, Nottingham Forest’s ambitions of landing Irish centre-back Jake O’Brien are dashed, with Everton poised to buy the defender. In an X post, the journalist stated that “Jake O’Brien will undergo medical as new Everton player on Monday, then signing a contract until June 2029.”
The Reds were connected with O’Brien earlier this month as they sought to bolster their defensive lineup. The sales of Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala hinted to a potential move, with the 23-year-old being “discussed.” Forest will now look into other prospective recruits in central defence.
Ramon Sosa
Forest were linked with a deal for Paraguay international Ramon Sosa last week. He is said to have a £15.5 million release clause inserted into his current contract with Argentine club Talleres. Nuno is eager to sign a winger because he regards the position as his top priority. The teams were supposed to be in talks, however sources from South America stated the player is not totally convinced by Forest’s bid. Sosa also left a vague signal on social media by uploading an emoji of a downcast face on Saturday. According to Argentinian outlet Via Paus, MLS club LA Galaxy may be interested in the 24-year-old after an initial approach was rejected earlier this year.
Lamare Bogarde
According to Birmingham Live, Aston Villa turned down Forest’s offer to sign youngster Lamare Bogarde. The youngest spent last season on loan at Bristol Rovers before returning to Villa Park in January. He has appeared in preseason, but his prospects may be restricted given Villa’s depth in center midfield, which has been bolstered by the signing of Amadou Onana. It was previously believed that Forest were interested in the midfielder, with talks of a £4 million transfer between the clubs. However, Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Villa are willing to extend the 20-year-old’s contract; a loan move might also be an option.
The Rotterdam-born player can play both midfield and defence, giving the Reds versatility.
Aaron Ramsdale
According to Nottinghamshire Live, Forest are interested in signing Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale on a loan basis. The England international has fallen out of favour with Mikel Arteta, who likes Spaniard David Raya for his greater distribution, which suits Arsenal’s progressive style of play. Nuno is apparently interested in the former AFC Bournemouth player, but the Gunners’ asking price is said to be about £50 million, so a permanent deal is doubtful. Forest presently have Matz Sels, Matt Turner, and Miguel registered, therefore one of the aforementioned ‘keepers may have to leave before a transaction can be completed.
Logan Costa
The Reds have been linked with the move of Toulouse defender Logan Costa. The defender has been considered as an alternative to Murillo, who has piqued the curiosity of several clubs, but might potentially bring Costa to the City Ground. Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, and Premier League rivals Fulham are all vying for his services. His current contract runs until 2026, and the club is said to seek a €12-18 million price before allowing him to depart.
