Nottingham Forest has a multitude of goalkeepers, but the team is looking for another one!
This summer, the Reds recruited Carlos Miguel from Corinthians for a cost of around £4 million.
Matz Sels returned late from international service after being granted an extended leave of absence following his involvement in Euro 2024 with Belgium.
He concluded the season as the number one goalie, and Forest will most likely still consider him the number one right now.
Matt Turner is also at the football club, having joined from Arsenal for £10 million last summer.
Forest are now looking to recruit another Arsenal goalkeeper, and Turner is a big fan of the most recent player linked with a transfer to the City Ground.
Nottingham Forest covet Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale
This one made the rounds yesterday, with Alan Nixon of The Sun reporting Forest wanted to snare Ramsdale.
The Reds would be unable to afford to purchase the goalkeeper outright, as the Gunners demand a £50 million transfer fee.
However, he will be available on loan, and Forest are expected to offer to cover the majority of his £120,000-per-week salary.
Ramsdale wants to leave the Emirates Stadium in pursuit of regular first-team action after losing his place to David Raya last season.
At 26 years old, Ramsdale has a couple of years on his side, and Nuno Espirito Santo is expected to embrace the England player as his number one.
What Matt Turner Said About Aaron Ramsdale
Turner was first hired by Arsenal as a backup to Ramsdale, and he served as the latter’s deputy during his spell in North London.
Turner and Ramsdale appear to have a high level of mutual regard, as the American praised Ramsdale in 2023.
He told Goal: “He’s just eccentric, with small elements of flair in his game; he’s extremely different from me in that regard, both on and off the field. “He’s weird and crazy, but I love him.”
Ironically, Ramsdale may now be the one to push Turner out the door on Trentside.
Clubs are keeping an eye on the USMNT’s number one goalkeeper, and if another goalkeeper signs, Turner will fall to fourth place in the rankings.
As a 30-year-old, it just will not do, and if the Arsenal player does join Forest, Turner will undoubtedly leave this summer.
