Daniel Farke acknowledges Leeds United can be “careful” during the summer transfer window.
This comes after the club’s sales of players like Archie Gray and Glen Kamara put them in a good negotiation position.
The German spoke to LeedsLive following Leeds’ pre-season triumph over Schalke and stated that if Leeds need to wait for the right player later this summer, they can do so.
“We still have a bit of work to do,” he told me.
“I mentioned the positions we need to look at: number eight, central midfielders, and full-back options. We can do this because we currently have a solid group, so there is no need to rush or overdo things.
“It’s more like we can be selective in who we choose and who is available. As a result, even if we signed a fresh player in these positions later, it would have no negative impact.
“It’s just important it’s the right choice and that’s what we’re trying to do.”
Leeds United are expected to be a strong contender in the 2024/25 Championship season.
Joe Rodon has already returned to the club after a good loan spell last season, while Jayden Bogle has joined the ranks as a first-choice right-back.
Leeds’ right-back position was perhaps their most pressing area for development, as Sam Byram was the club’s only remaining right-back following the sanctioned sale of Archie Gray.
The fact that Leeds managed to sign Bogle for only £5 million is nothing short of genius for one of the division’s greatest full-backs.
However, acquisitions like Bogle’s are still required throughout the squad, particularly in the heart of midfield.
Although there is still plenty of time in the summer window, and Farke believes the club can wait to make additions, the sooner new players arrive, the faster they can be assimilated into the team.
