According to Beren Cross, Crysencio Summerville was forced to sit out of Leeds United’s pre-season friendly win over Schalke on Saturday.
On July 27, the LeedsLive journalist reported via X that Summerville, 22, missed the game due to a “hamstring complaint” rather than previous conjecture linking the Dutch winger with a move away from Elland Road.
Leeds triumphed 2-0 due to goals from Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe.
Will Summerville depart Leeds United in the summer?
Leeds fans’ worst dread came true this summer when Archie Gray went for Tottenham.
Although the trade finally made financial sense for the Whites and provided Gray with the platform he deserved to demonstrate his talent, it was difficult for Elland Road fans to swallow.
Leeds fans have also had to cope with Summerville being linked with a move this summer because, like Gray, he is a player whose abilities much beyond those expected in the Championship.
Last season, the former Feyenoord forward scored 19 goals and provided nine assists in 43 league appearances but failed to help Daniel Farke’s side achieve promotion to the Premier League.
He has since been linked with a number of Premier League clubs, with CaughtOffside stating on July 26 that West Ham are now in the running to sign him.
The Hammers are believed to be the only team to have made a “convincing approach” for the winger at this time, while Chelsea, Brighton, and Aston Villa have all been connected.
CaughtOffside also reported that West Ham are “planning fresh contact with Leeds in a bid to finalise a move” for Summerville.
Leeds fans will be hoping that is not the case.
