Leeds United have begun to reinvest Archie Gray’s cash after raiding Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United for Jayden Bogle.
Daniel Farke almost failed to return Leeds United to the Premier League on his first attempt.
A Championship playoff final defeat to Southampton was a significant setback, but fans hoped for another promotion drive.
However, such dreams were dashed earlier in July when Leeds announced the transfer of wonderkid Archie Gray to Tottenham Hotspur.
Leeds paid a lot of money for Gray, but it didn’t matter to fans at the time because one of the club’s best players had left.
Joe Rodon at least went in the opposite direction, but with Glen Kamara gone to Rennes last week, Leeds had to reinvest in fresh players.
Jayden Bogle on Leeds United fans.
Gray may be a midfielder by trade, but he spent the majority of last season at right back.
As loan signings Djed Spence and Connor Roberts were forced to play supporting roles, the teenager demonstrated his adaptability to perfection.
Leeds have, however, decided to invest in the right back position, signing Jayden Bogle from Sheffield United.
Raiding your local rivals is always nice, but signing an experienced Championship right back in Bogle, who still has opportunity to grow at 23, is great for Leeds.
Bogle has played approximately 200 games in his career, more than 150 of which have been in the Championship or Premier League.
Bogle, who has traded Bramall Lane for Elland Road, is hoping to prove that he is worth the £7 million investment.
Bogle has now talked to the Leeds official website, describing the atmosphere at Elland Road in one word: ‘wild’.
Bogle admitted to being astounded by how ‘beautiful’ Elland Road looks even when empty, and he can’t wait to play there next season.
“I’ve played here before and the atmosphere before a game is crazy,” Bogle told reporters. “I can’t wait for that to be on my side now and fuel my performance in games; I’m very enthusiastic about it. Even when it’s empty, it looks incredible, so I can’t fathom what it’ll be like when it’s full,” he added.
Who will come next for Leeds United?
Bogle joins Rodon, Joe Rothwell, and Alex Cairns as Leeds’ summer additions, marking a solid start to the window despite Gray’s departure.
Leeds, however, still needs more quality, as Illan Meslier and Crysencio Summerville continue to garner significant interest.
Leeds is interested in signing Bournemouth striker Daniel Jebbison.
According to HITC, Leeds intended to sign Jebbison from Sheffield United this summer but lost out to Bournemouth.
Leeds still want to sign Jebbison on loan and hope to reunite him with Bogle at Elland Road.
Bournemouth are open to a loan to help Jebbison develop, but Sundelrand is also intrigued, presenting Leeds with a serious challenge.
