Leeds United pay sell-on fee to EFL rivals after sealing recent £5m agreement – BBC journalist

Leeds United owe Derby County a small amount due to the sell-on clause included in Jayden Bogle’s deal from Sheffield United over the weekend.

Leeds have made four acquisitions this summer, the most recent being a new starting right-back.

Jayden Bogle signed a long-term agreement with Leeds from local rivals Sheffield United, giving significant talent and balance to the club’s back four.

Jayden Bogle’s transfer details: The £5 million transaction includes a Derby County sell-on.

Leeds’ newest signing has come on a four-year contract from Bramall Lane to address a big concern in Daniel Farke’s side: right-back output.

The amount paid is estimated to be about £5 million, with the Blades acknowledging the departure by calling the deal as a “significant” fee.

Do Leeds boast the league’s greatest full-back pairing?

Now, BBC Derby journalist Dominic Dietrich has revealed that there is a sell-on provision inserted, which helps Derby County:

Bogle left Pride Park for the Blades in September 2020, and his move to Leeds results in a slight sell-on for the Rams, which appears to be aided by the fact that the £5 million fee is not significantly higher than the repotted £3.5 million Sheffield United paid for Bogle.

Bogle hasn’t been able to massively kick on since Derby day.

Bogle is one of the greatest right-backs in the league, making him a fantastic buy for Leeds this summer, but he was also one of Derby’s best players.

Bogle, a teenager during his Derby debut, was extremely impressive, and the Rams must have expected a large sum if he left Bramall Lane.

Their yo-yoing between the top two divisions hasn’t helped Bogles’ stock rise, despite his three Premier League goals last season.
