Dan Bardell wants Leeds United to sign Sammie Szmodics from Blackburn Rovers.
According to Peterborough’s official website (17 July), chairman Darragh MacAnthony feels the Irishman will boost the club’s promotion campaign.
He said that the Blackburn forward will “pretty much guarantee” the Whites’ promotion from the Premier League next season.
Bardell, a Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist, agrees and has pushed Leeds to use their club’s stature as an advantage over their league rivals.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Bardell said: “He scored a lot of goals for Blackburn last season in a fantastic year for him.
Leeds must utilize their influence to sign the top players in the league, and Szmodics is one of them, because they are in the Championship.
“Farke’s style of football would fit him well, and he would lead Leeds in goals.” If the price was appropriate, he would be a truly nice addition.
Sammie Szmodics should be signed by Leeds United.
In 44 appearances in the Championship [FotMob], the 28-year-old scored 27 goals and provided four assists, making him the top scorer by a margin of three.
With 20 goals of his own, Crysencio Summerville came closest for Leeds, but Patrick Bamford led the team in goals scored with nine.
Depending on the transfer fee, bringing the Ireland international into Daniel Farke’s team for this season might turn out to be a wise move.
Although there hasn’t been any formal interest as of yet, it’s known that the forward would fit in well with Elland Road’s setup for the upcoming campaign.
The Whites would be better off adding Szmodics, who might make the difference needed to get promoted to the Premier League.
