‘In the mould of Winks to Leicester’ – Pundit thrilled by Leeds ties to Premier League player

According to Paul Robinson, buying Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp this summer would be a “real coup” for Leeds United.

TEAMtalk stated (16 July) that the Whites are still keen in bringing SKipp to Elland Road, but they may miss out because other Premier League clubs are interested in signing him.

Daniel Farke is said to be a fan of Skipp’s, since they previously worked together at Norwich City, and Robinson believes if they can make it off, it will be similar to Leicester City signing Harry Winks last summer.

Robinson told MOT Leeds News: “I think he would have been a great player to come in.” I compare him to Harry Winks when he was at Tottenham – a very similar sort of player. They’ve faced similar scenarios at Spurs.

“I know Ange Posteceoglou likes him and occasionally starts him in games. He’s not the first choice there, but he’s a valuable asset, so signing him would be a huge coup for Leeds.

“It’d be like Winks moving to Leicester City after regaining his top-level form and winning the Championship with them. An Oliver Skipp signing for Leeds would follow in the footsteps of Winks to Leicester.

“He’s a player I’d really like to see at Elland Road.”

Leeds United poised to miss out on signing Oliver Skipp.

Given that Glen Kamara and Archie Gray have left Elland Road, the 23-year-old may have been a valuable addition to the squad.

With Premier League clubs vying for his signing, Leeds will need to make a large deal to attract him to the club, and his prior work with Farke may not suffice.

Although he made 21 league matches under Posteocoglou last season, only five of them came from the start, indicating that he is surplus to requirements at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Despite this, Leeds appear unlikely to lure him to Elland Road this summer.
